Frequently Asked Questions
Is your leather losing its luster? Not to worry, a few simple steps will have your hide looking fresher than Will Smith.
There're a few routine measures you can take to ensure the longevity of your leather goods. For starters, you’ll want to try to avoid exposing your leather to high moisture (which can promote mold growth), as well as excessive sunlight (which can lead to dryness and cracking). That said, moisture and sunlight are part of life -- and regular cleaning and conditioning can help prevent these inherent issues.
Cleaning: Leather is very easy to clean, and there are a variety of methods. We’d suggest cleaning your leather any time it gets visibly grimy, or twice a year. You can buff it with a slightly damp rag and air dry, or utilize a dedicated saddle soap like Fiebing's.
Conditioning: After each cleaning (or every 4-6 months), make a point to condition your leather, using a beeswax-based leather cream like Fiebings Aussie Leather Conditioner, or Skidmore's Leather Cream. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results.
